Kat Yeaton

College Choice: New York University (Tisch School of the Arts)
College Major: Film & Television

From an early age, Kat Yeaton loved the stage—front, center, and back! Over the years she has done it all, from producing, writing, working props, acting, and singing, to writing music, poetry, and yes, filmmaking. She is already a filmmaker, having produced, directed, and filmed her own shorts. She applied Early Decision to NYU Tisch, the #1 film school in the U.S. and was accepted and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

The McGehee community has watched Kat’s talent firsthand on stage in many an Upper School musical. Her other talents include lead singer for the band TRAINYARD and Irish dance, where she reached the highest level competition possible.

She credits McGehee for “teaching her to become a great writer.” Her advisor Mr. McLetchie has been an influential faculty member to Kat. She writes, “Mr. McLetchie has been a father figure of mine throughout high school, has encouraged me to be myself, and has supported me through thick and thin.”
