Evie Taranto

College Choice: University of Arizona
College Major: Business & a Minor in Sports Management

Evie Taranto hopes to work in the sports world with plans to major in Business and minor in Sports Management. Early on in her college search, she decided that her top choice was the University of Arizona. She wanted “a friendly environment for college so this was a huge factor for my college decision. I'm hoping to work in the sports world and the University of Arizona has a great basketball team which led me to lean more towards the school prior to my first visit.” She also chose the University of Arizona because she wanted to go to a college with warm but dry weather. She said, “I've lived in New Orleans my entire life so I want to go somewhere on the other side of the U.S. so I can have a different experience. When I visited Arizona last March I immediately loved the school because of how nice and welcoming the people are.”

Regarding her McGehee experience Evie writes, “McGehee prepared me well by teaching me how to write an argumentative essay with claim, reason, and evidence. I was taught how to do this my freshman year in both Mr. McLetchie's class and Ms. Westfall's class and. their teachings have definitely stuck with me.”

Evie loves athletics—competing and managing! Track, basketball, swimming, and a summer softball league are part of her sports experience. Evie thanks Coach Western who, “gave me the opportunity to be the manager for the Varsity Swim Team and the Varsity Basketball Team over the years. If it wasn't for Coach Western's support and kindness, I may never have realized how much I enjoy working with a team. It is because of my role as a manager that I hope to do something similar in the future for a job.”
