Bella Gould

Bella Gould joined McGehee’s Class of 2023 for Upper School. With her, she brought her joy for life and love of reading. (During studies, Bella can often be found perched on a window seat in the library’s reading room, curled up with a good book.)

While at McGehee, Bella has held several leadership positions, serving as a Student Ambassador in grades 11 and 12 and she was elected by her classmates to be their senior Community Service Chair. Bella is an enthusiastic supporter of the Smile Club, which raises money for Smile Train, the largest cleft palate organization in the world, and she served this year as the school’s club president.

At the 2023 May Day ceremony, Bella was named First Maid on the May Day Court, one of the highest honors a McGehee girl can receive. The May Day Court is elected by the entire Upper School student body based on characteristics of kindness and school spirit and the court represents the finest qualities of a “McGehee Girl.”

Bella shared her thoughts about the importance of McGehee’s Honor Code, writing, “The Honor code has definitely prepared me for college as I know I can be trusted to do the right thing. My college of choice also has an honor code.”

She thanked Ms. Thompson for being a “great advisor who has watched us grow from freshman year to now and she has helped us learn some critical lessons on government.”

Bella was accepted by Wofford College as a recipient of the 1854 Scholarship; Furman University with the Bell Tower Scholarship; Sewanee with the Ecce Quam Bonum Award; and to Spring Hill’s Honor College with a Presidential scholarship. Next fall she will be attending her first choice university, High Point, where she also received a Presidential Scholarship.
