Abbie Spera

College Choice: Sewanee

Abbie Spera has been swimming for Nu Wave Swim Club since she was 7 and competitively since the age of 13, competing all over the country, as well as for McGehee’s swim team. In addition to her (early decision) admittance to Sewanee as a recruited–and very excited–swimmer on their Division III team, she was also awarded Sewanee’s Ecce Quam Bonum Scholarship.

As a swimmer for the Hawks, Abbie swam every event, prioritizing Individual Medly (placing 5th in Metro), Breaststroke, (placing 3rd in State), and Backstroke (placing 4th in State) last fall. In addition to her dedication to competing, Abbie has also served as a lifeguard, an Assistant Lifeguard Instructor, and a swim instructor. 

She enjoyed being a Student Ambassador at school as well as participating in Girls Learn International (GLI), and she cannot wait to graduate in pink. This is her favorite McGehee tradition!
