Maria Espinoza

Class of 2014

Tulane University, Class of ’19
Harvard, Graduate School of Design’s Master in Architecture II, Class of ’22

Maria Espinoza was always around the construction industry as her father worked in construction. When she was growing up she would go with him to visit job sites and still has fond memories of seeing the process of design from a 2D drawing to a 3D spatial experience. That, combined with the art classes she took at McGehee, really brought everything together for her. Being introduced to different mediums and having a teacher like Ms. Wiseman who helped and pushed her was incredibly important to Maria.

Maria is currently teaching a first-year architecture studio at Tulane and hopes to one day move to New York and work at an architecture firm and get licensed. Her long term plan is to open a practice and possibly go back to teaching as well.

“I’m still a very introverted person, so being involved in Mock Trial at McGehee for four years really pushed me outside of my comfort zone. It helped me become more comfortable with public speaking and voicing my opinion in front of people.”
