Third Grade Performs

Open Gates to Louisiana
The 3rd Graders educated their parents about Louisiana through their Open Gates program. These young experts have been doing research in their social studies, music, art and STEAM classes, finding information on Louisiana's geography, climate, food, music, agriculture, products, Native American peoples, folklore and legends, acadians, cajuns and major cities.
This Lower School research-based project is developed in the classroom, the art room and through the performing arts. Creating art inspired by Louisiana artists, Ida Kohlmeyer and George Rodrigue; with music inspiration from Louis Armstrong, Irma Thomas, and Fats Domino; and STEAM research exploring the waterways of Louisiana, the girls in the Class of 2030 are now experts in all things Louisiana!
