4th Grade’s Open Gates

Women in History
Elizabeth Blackwell, Susan B. Anthony, Jane Adams, Malala Yousafzai, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Frida Kahlo, and Mary Bethune were just several of the leading women portrayed in this year’s 4th Grade Women in History Open Gates. This amazing cross-curricular project involves social studies, language arts, music and art. Girls in the Class of 2029 researched and wrote about their chosen characters. Since we were unable to have a live performance, the class educated one another through Who Am I? riddles, skits and music performances. Each girl dressed in character costume over the last several weeks, and presented their research to lower school students all around campus. Everyone loved learning about these famous women in history.
