Mock Trial

Young lawyers in the making.
On Saturday, March 6th, two McGehee Mock Trial teams competed in the Regional Mock Trial Tournament. While the competition is typically held at the 24th Judicial District Courthouse in Gretna, this year, 13 teams - representing schools such as Ben Franklin, Jesuit, McGehee, and Sacred Heart - met over Zoom. Each team had the chance to argue plaintiff and defense in the fictional civil case of Barry Jackson, on Behalf of the Minor Child, Charley Jackson vs. Grande City Zoo. The case was about a brash 14-year-old, a tiger attack, and an eccentric trainer named 'Bo Aquatic.'
McGehee students overcame technical glitches and presented eloquent, methodical cases in four hard-fought matches. Congratulations to all the Mock Trialers who devote an immense amount of time and energy to this intellectual combat! The competition was keen. Team members are as follows:
Seniors: Lynn-Chi Nguyen, Gabrielle Tanet, Jordyn Wilson
Juniors: Mary Grace von Kurnatowski
Sophomores: Izzi Dennis, Lucy Fuller, Sophia Hof, Olivia Lyman, Helen Street, Katie Tober
Freshmen: Ava Leonard-Adams, Ava Zander
Coaches: Cameron Lyon, Carolyn Thompson
