On January 20th, Upper School students signed the school’s Honor Code in classrooms and outdoor spaces. Traditionally commemorated at a formal, Upper School assembly, this signing is a pledge or commitment to do one’s own work, trust and value one another, and agree to McGehee’s valued system of student government. Each student has the privilege to help in the smooth running of her school and the responsibility to do her best to make it a place in which she and her fellow students may live and work honorably and harmoniously.
In 1921, McGehee was the first New Orleans school to adopt a Student Body Government and an Honor Code. This fall of 2021, we will mark the centennial celebration of our Honor Code with great pride.
