The Class of 2029 continued studies of supply and demand through Marketplace this week. McGehee begins teaching girls to be financially savvy at the elementary level. Through our financial literacy program, students are taught real world finance skills. Emphasis is placed on the importance of not only earning money but also how to save money to meet short and long term goals. In third grade the Marketplace teaches the girls the importance of responsibility and beginning business sense. Twice a year, the girls participate in a marketplace where they sell homemade goods. The girls learn the importance of supply and demand as well as unit pricing. This year our girls outdid themselves with homemade items and clever concepts. Nightlights, dream catchers, jewelry and fortune tellers were just a few of the highlights.
