McGehee girls learned a lot about their health this week.
Alumna and Specialist in Internal Medicine at Ochsner, Dr. Karen Blessey '87, spoke at the Women's Health Awareness assembly for Middle and Upper School students about the journey that led her to the medical profession. Dr. Blessey shared obstacles she encountered along the way, including a battle with breast cancer, but how she powered through and persevered. She ended her talk with a quote by Charles Swindell that mirrors her story, "Life is about 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it."
Middle Schoolers also enjoyed a special speaker on Monday for Women’s Health Awareness Week, Dr. Meghan Klavans, Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ochsner. To wrap up the week, students got to wear duds today to help raise money and awareness.
