Jessica Holl will be our next Middle School Division Head, beginning July 1. After a national search, the search committee (Whitney Drennan, Megan Garriott '04, Julee LaPorte, Kim
Field-Marvin) was impressed with her natural leadership skills, dedication and passion for McGehee. Ms. Holl is a strong and tireless advocate for girls' education, and has a nuanced understanding of early adolescent girls in Middle School and an overarching understanding of the Middle School curriculum through her work in crafting interdisciplinary collaborations in the Performing Arts department. Over the past ten years, Ms. Holl has joyfully and successfully taken on leadership roles at the school.
Jessica has been a formative leader in her role as the chair of the ISAS Self-Study Steering Committee here at McGehee. Her inclusive style and her keen organization skills have created a structure that has already allowed the school community to dive into the work of self examination and reflection that precedes our ten year reaccreditation process as an independent school.
Jessica has also been a key leader in the space utilization task force, mobilizing faculty from every division to research, observe and reflect upon their work, asking questions about how to most efficiently use the space on our campus, and engaging in discussion around how well our program reflects the school's mission.
This fall, Jessica played a key role on an ISAS visiting committee during the Alcuin School's (Dallas, TX) accreditation process. Chuck Raymer, the Head of School who chaired the committee raved about her enthusiasm, collaborative spirit, and her ability to see the big picture.
One benefit of having Ms. Holl on campus presently is that we can begin to discuss and plan for a transition in leadership. She will begin to regularly meet with the senior leadership team to help prepare her for her new role. In addition, Ms. Holl will attend the Gardner Carney Leadership Institute's Leadership Lab at Fountain Valley School in Colorado in June.
