Middle School Pops Concert

What talent we have in our middle school!
MS Orchestra (5th-8th), Les Petites Chanteuses (6th-8th) and Young Singers (all 5th and 6th) blew the audience away with their crowd-pleasing selections at this year’s Pops concert. Our 5th and 6th graders not only performed as a part of their choir, Young Singers, they also performed as small ensembles. Focusing on how the individual musician contributes to a musical ensemble gives our Middle School girls an opportunity to develop their understanding of agency, teamwork, and collaboration. Fifth grade finalized their study of “why humans tell stories” with the song “Why We Tell the Story” from Once on This Island.  Sixth grade used guitar, piano, and Orff instruments to perform hits by Tom Petty, The Troggs, Jimi Hendrix as well as traditional blues songs and rock bands.
