Performing in the 4th Grade Musical and the Middle School talent show are just a couple of examples of how Matilda Knight found her voice at McGehee. She just completed her yearlong mentorship on the topic Influences on Music Preference in the Digital Age and she will be attending college at Loyola University where she will major in Music Industry Studies: Popular and Commercial Music. Matilda reflected on going to Loyola. “I am so excited to be able to go to a great music college and stay in New Orleans. I can't wait to explore all the different music scenes and learn more about what this great city has to offer!” As this year’s Student Council President, she has learned all about leadership and the importance of the honor code at McGehee. About her school experience, she said, “McGehee has allowed me to find my own strengths and passions. It has taught me that when you fail you must always get back up and try even harder the next time. No one can stop you if you are determined to succeed.”
