Amelia Perret

College Choice: Barnard College at Columbia University
Major: Gender Studies and Pre-Med

Graduating with a Distinction in History
Mentorship Title: "Beyond the Framework of a Single Choice: Uncovering the Puzzle of Reproductive Politics"

Amelia had this to say about her school experience. “McGehee has taught me to remain steadfast and strong in my opinions. The teachers have given me the platform to grow as an independent woman and to stand up for myself.” Participating in Mock Trial since 8th grade also helped her find her voice and since she loves to debate and always loves learning more, she’s on the perfect track. While she wants to thank all of her teachers throughout her years at McGehee, she feels like she learned some very important lessons from Ms. Fallon and Ms. Thompson. “They have helped me harness the importance of my academics and how to apply them in my life. The combination of my government class and my women’s history class this year is what made my mentorship so important to me and their guidance gave me the opportunity to connect those themes to real-life issues and present them in a way that people could relate to and learn from.” Amelia Perret is Barnard bound and we can not wait to follow her success.
