“An expectation of integrity is firmly embedded within the fabric of the school and while it ultimately comes from within the individual, the McGehee community and program fosters the cultivation of honest young women who lead lives of consequence, become strong advocates, and speak truth to power.”

DR. KIMBERLY FIELD-MARVIN, HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear McGehee Family,

Since 1912, when Louise S. McGehee focused her energies on creating a school for girls, the school that bears her name has encouraged its students to become Leading Women. To that end, a McGehee education supports the development of student agency, which includes the ability to make decisions about one’s life and to take actions to achieve a desired result. McGehee students inquire deeply, discuss to further their own understanding, stand up for others, identify and solve problems, and collaborate on common goals. McGehee girls are bold and critical thinkers as well as active participants who are engaged in their own learning.

A hallmark of the McGehee experience is the School’s honor code, a meaningful tradition recognized as preparation for moral and ethical leadership. An expectation of integrity is firmly embedded within the fabric of the school and while it ultimately comes from within the individual, the McGehee community and program fosters the cultivation of honest young women who lead lives of consequence, become strong advocates, and speak truth to power.
