Libraries

The McGehee libraries are busy, vibrant places.

Located in the historic Bradish Johnson House, our libraries are warm and welcoming spaces where our girls love to spend time.

To develop a lifelong love of reading, the main focus of the Lower School Library is to engage students with reading and encourage regular reading habits by providing a library collection to meet their personal interests and academic needs.  In conjunction with the print book, students are taught research and information literacy skills to help them become better users and consumers of digital resources and technology tools.

The McGehee Middle and Upper School Librarian collaborates closely with the classroom teachers to support their curriculum.  Students participate in regular group reading workshops designed to foster reading comprehension skills, while developing that lifelong love of reading. Middle and Upper School students are introduced to important research skills and databases which they use as resources for classroom assignments.
