Re-enrollment

January 21, 2010

Dear Parents,

We are entering the final days of preparation for our ISAS reaccreditation visit January 24-27 and we're ready with many positive changes and advances we've made over the past ten years. As always we have an abundance of good news. Constantly improving and striving for excellence, our Board of Trustees, faculty and administration remain committed to making McGehee the best it can be. Our technology is second to none, the curriculum is consistently refined, and we have an extraordinary and dedicated faculty who all believe in the McGehee mission. Progress and improvements often come with higher costs and in order to implement our growth the Board of Trustees has approved a 4% increase for the 2010-2011 tuition.

One of our many improvements and a great accomplishment is the faculty's success with curriculum mapping. We have been working on this project for several years now and look forward to fine tuning the results beginning in February. Next, we are excited to offer a new addition that complements both our curriculum and our commitment to technology. We are now charter affiliate members of the Online School for Girls (OSG). OSG offers online courses taught by teachers from independent girls' schools across the country. Qualified McGehee Upper School students are now eligible to enroll in three OSG courses for the spring semester: Women in Art and Literature; Introduction to Computer Science; and Genetics. We anticipate that some of our faculty members will be asked to teach an online course, an important trend of the future. However, it is important to note that OSG will never replace the extraordinary McGehee experience. Our college admissions news is arriving daily and we have already had seniors accepted early decision to American, Vanderbilt, Sewanee and the University of Georgia. We are very proud of the Class of 2010. Also, our College Counselor held a successful college night with the parents of girls in grades 10 and 11. This week we welcome Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) to our campus for their annual visit, allowing our girls to freely discuss social issues and pressures among their peers. We just completed a school wide food drive with Second Harvest where lower school classes teamed up with middle and upper school classes, culminating in a generous donation for those in need. The McGehee spirit is strong and certainly service is the fabric of our mission.

As always, we continue to advance the curriculum and many services we offer to our girls and as we continually maintain and support a superior faculty. We anticipate growth in our enrollment the next school year and continue to see an influx of excellent applications to our admissions office.

To properly plan for faculty staffing, we must receive your deposit of $750 and your 2010-2011 re-enrollment contract by February 12, 2010. Please complete and return the attached forms with your deposit OR you may download the cost sheet and re-enrollment contract from the school website and return the contract/deposit to the Business Office no later than February 12. As you may know, we are limited in the number of additional spots available for new applicants in many of our grades and we wish to enroll our McGehee families first.

As always, thank you for your commitment to McGehee. Our girls will be reaping the lifelong dividends of a McGehee education. We truly look forward to another wonderful year of educating your daughter(s).
Sincerely,

Sincerely,
